Safe in Moderation
Small amounts of plain butter are generally not toxic to dogs, but butter is very high in fat and can cause digestive upset, so it is not a good regular treat.

Why we say this
Butter is primarily fat and provides little nutritional benefit for dogs. Larger amounts of fatty foods can cause gastrointestinal upset and may increase the risk of pancreatitis in susceptible dogs.
