Safe part
If given at all, a very small amount of fresh, plain, unsalted pistachio meat with the shell removed.
Avoid
Shells, salted or seasoned pistachios, moldy or spoiled nuts, large quantities and pistachios covered in chocolate or other unsafe ingredients.
Preparation
Remove the shell completely and choose plain, unsalted pistachios. Avoid nuts of uncertain quality or those showing signs of mold.
